Viva Sto. Nino!

Filipinos are unique in their devotion to the Sto. Nino. The 3rd Sunday of January is the feast day of Sto. Nino, with a grand Sinulog festival held in the province of Cebu. Since we can't be in Cebu, we were fortunate to view not one Sto. Nino but thousands of Sto. Ninos where they are on public exhibit at PNB (Philippine National Bank) main office on Diosdado Macapagal Blvd until January 27.

There were all sorts of Sto. Ninos, made from different materials and dressed in different costumes. Some unique ones dressed in an Ifugao, police and one doing chemistry. Benjo found one to be his favorite - Sto Nino de Activo which had little toy cars at its feet.

Viewing the roomful and corridor full of Sto. Ninos I was awed at the devotion these statues symbolized. I felt a sense of peace while in the outer corridor where some of the statues were displayed.
